Dayton PRIDE 2024: Angel Action

Shifts & training available

  • 3 hours
  • North Saint Clair Street

Volunteer Opportunity

We need your help in this important, peaceful, counter-protest role where volunteers will wear robes and wings, and work as a team to block needed areas. The wings are expansive and help to block unwanted noise and visuals from those at the festival. Those in this role will be positioned in the parade and at the festival. Once this volunteer group is established, we will be reaching out to set up an in-person orientation prior to the festival to discuss shifts, responsibilities, stationing, and more. With enough volunteers we can establish shifts. This action was started in 1998 by Romaine Patterson, an LGBTQ rights activist, radio personality, and author, so loved ones could gather in peace at the funeral of Matthew Shepard. This action continues still today. Thank you for considering helping in this important role. Angel robes and wings are provided. Shifts and training will be coordinated after signing up.
